About Me

My Hubby

I am dating the most wonderful man alive, named Julian. Together we have two fur babies, Mollie and Broly, and they totally complete us. Julian and I met in the workplace in 2017. We both work Law Enforcement, for the Department of Corrections. It is funny, because we both did not like each other when we first met. Yes, it is not ideal to date in the workplace… but after getting to know one another, it seemed like we were two peas in the perfect pod. We established our official date as September 1, 2018 and we have been inseparable since. In February of 2019, we purchases our first house and moved in together. While working at the same employer can be double the amount of stress at home, because Law Enforcement is VERY stressful, it allows us to support each other in a way most can’t. It is better to connect and understand your partner if you have experience in the Law Enforcement field. I am very fortunate that we are able to connect on a fantastic level and understand each other… sometimes without speaking. I am truly blessed to have met such an amazingly patient man who is very loving, caring, and selfless. If you asked him, he would say he is the lucky one in the relationship… little does he know… it is I who is the lucky one.

What I do

I started working for the prison in June 2017. I worked on the compound for a few months before I was put through the State academy. This is typically a three month long program. However, we has a hurricane come through and it added on a few additional weeks. I graduated in December 2017, and passed my state exam. Then, in August 2018 I was awarded Officer of the Month. Shortly after that, I was promoted to Sergeant in October 2018. Again, I am employed at an all males State Prison. This is not a job a lot of females can do. It is not the ideal job for a young female AT ALL. With that being said, I do what I do because I feel I am very good at it. I take pride that I am one of few females that make it in this line of work, without being eaten alive. I am not going to say it is easy, because it absolutely is not. At times I find myself questioning if this is what God really had planned for me. At the end of the day, I find myself understanding that this is where we are supposed to be. Even if it is for right now. We do not ride in patrol cars, but we do keep your nightmares behind the wall. We are the forgotten hero’s of Law Enforcement… because you don’t see us out and about on the streets. It is nice to see when people last at this facility, especially the young ones. Other times it is sad to see how bad they allow others to manipulate them. My job is very active and it changes on a day to day basis.

Why I do what I do

Law enforcement has always peaked my interest. However, during my collage years, I did not have the money to put myself through the academy. I found myself holding one FT job, three PT jobs, in addition to being a FT student at once. At the time I had enough on my place… and lets be honest, income was a struggle. I was a young teenage student, living on my own and working all the time. I did not have anyone to depend on to pay the bills, and I would be lying if I said it was an easy time for me. I am proud to say that I never gave up. After Graduating Collage, I reached out to some contacts and was able to figure out out I could afford to get into a Law Enforcement position. I was advised by a local PD to apply to work for the local correctional department, and they would sponsor me to go through the academy… in addition to supplying me a bi-weekly paycheck. I was super excited and got on the computer that day to apply. I started exactly one month later. The original plan was for me to get my certifications here, and then apply to become a Police Officer with a local Department. However, I managed to promote to Sergeant after dedicating one year to the Department and I really love my administration. I am dedicated to this Department and my administrations see’s it. I would like to see how far up I can promote while completing my B.S program, and hopefully I will see additional opportunities arise.

Volunteering

In my free time, I enjoy singing for my local community. I love to participate in the local Charlotte Idol, which is a singing fund raiser for the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition. In 2019, I won 2nd place and helped contribute in raising money for the local community. I am also a volunteer member of Roaring Lions Production Inc, which is a local production company that does entertainment in the local area, which has helped in raising money for the Military Heritage Museum. The money that is raised during our performances goes back to the Museum and is donated to the Military. I am also a proud member of my church choir, and I sing solos for our masses on Sunday mornings. Singing is my passion that I must incorporate into my daily life. FUN FACT: I have auditioned for The Voice, season 2 and received a call back… but it did not air on TV. The experience was very inspirational and I will never give up singing.
